DIRECTOR/ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
As the founding principal of Presidency
school, Kasturinagar, and Director of the Presidency Group of Schools inheriting
a legacy of a highly motivated team under the aegis of the Presidency group
of Schools that its Chairman, Mr. Nissar Ahmed nurtured for years, all we
need to do is look forward to the future with a sense of confidence and anticipation
of further achievement by focusing more on what we are doing. In the process,
we must tie a few loose strings and think futuristically in terms of strategic
planning, keep in pace with the needs of the time, be it IT or curriculum,
shifting to teaching thinking and encourage the development of thinking learners.
We should enhance the educational environment for the development of creative
minds, and create opportunities for expanding the mind.
Further, the focus will also be on nurturing creativity; observation, inquiry
and critical reflection; building confidence and self-esteem; shaping character
and inculcating abiding values of tolerance and compassion; appreciation of
diversity and internationalism. These attributes are vital for the success
of children as well as global progress.
We need to face certain question head on: are we creating students for tomorrow
or just large masses of followers who look to others to tell them what to
do with their lives. I write this to fill a need. The bulk of the student
strength in any school for that matter, are struggling with the barriers of
learning. Our focus should be to enlighten the majority by removing the learning
barriers.
Other important issues that concern us of late are obesity and escalating
stress level among children. Experts in clinical psychology have expressed
serious concern on this issue. Therefore, we should chalk out a comprehensive
health policy for our school, which should include among other things, counseling
and guidance for a stress free education and a healthy lifestyle.
We should pursue our vision with a concrete action plan and an obsessive zeal
and take delight in every step while moving forward - A dream and a passion
to help Presidency School surge ahead towards becoming a global school of
excellence. We can't wait for 'promises to make and miles to go'; rather we
must swing into action on a specific road map and take intuitive decisions
after due deliberations. Let us always remember 'Excellence' is not a destination,
it is a journey and as we surge ahead, we discover to our delight, new milestones
of achievements.
